La Tonnara, Italian for "the tuna trap". This one is at Cala Tonnarella dell'Uzzo, Sicily.
Sicily has always lived from what passes by. Olives on the hills, fish in the nets. Every spring, the bluefin tuna, following their ancient routes into a maze of nets, and a whole village waiting at sea.
The nets are gone now. But every summer a new school arrives from the north, silver in their pockets, and swims into the same cove. The island lives from them.
The trap is still here. Now it is made of turquoise.
